Good question, why have we divided life into areas of specialization? Maybe it is a tradition we are stuck with. It's always a question of what do you want to be when you grow up, not a question of what all would you like to learn and achieve in your life.

May be curiosity has something to do with this, if you are curious about everything, then chances are you will seek out information and learn new things.

I am not sure which is better, maybe we need both, people who specialize, and people who are jack of all trade.

Everything is depending of everything - life is not divided into different subjects, why are we divided life into different arts or subjects as aesthetics and engineering?
