Moment of Zen

Mahatma GandhiI like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.
- Mahatma Gandhi

Even though this quote is specific to Christianity, I feel it applies to all religion. You often find that the followers tend to stray away from the ideals set forth by the idols they worship. As time passes by, varying interpretations and beliefs of the original teachings begin to develop, resulting in numerous variations of the same religion.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Most people cannot fathom the deep spiritual meanings behind religion, and take everything literally. I think they do it to serve their own purpose, use it as a way to rationalise their own behaviour.
